Psalm 42. [an interpretation.]

My being longs for God like the deer pants for the water
And it’s so hard to wait here when they all say, “Where’s your Father?”
I remember the days of joy and praise; into God’s house we crowded
But now I’m simply hoping that His face He has not shrouded

Why so downcast, o my soul? Don’t you know God makes you whole?
Therefore I remember in full His greatness during strife
Deepness, it calls out to deep, as over me His waters sweep
I will not weep, for when I sleep His love-song brings me life

Why has God forsaken me? Can’t He see the enemy
Who crushes my bones forcefully and sneers, “Where is your Lord?”

Be still, my soul, and quiet down, for God wears the eternal crown
I cling to hope, to Him I bow, now and forevermore.
