For a good 30 seconds, I legitimately thought I lost the ability to comprehend English.

Needless to say, panic set in as I listened to what seriously sounded like gibberish. It was an English song with an English title, and I could tell the sounds were English syllables, but they just didn’t connect.

Then I spent another 20 seconds wondering if when foreigners listen to English, they too hear a garbled, less phlegm-y form of German.

Then I returned to panic as I considered the possibility that I was having a migraine aura, even though I’ve never had a history of migraines.

Then I realized that the singer is just French and has a really weird accent.

It probably didn’t help that the song immediately before it was actually in French, which probably assisted my brain in disconnecting from the whole comprehending-what-I’m-listening-to thing.

In any case, I can rest easy in the knowledge that I am not having a brain spasm specific to the auditory cortex or Wernicke’s area, and I will not need to be rushed to the hospital to get a tumor removed.

…I should probably go do something productive now.
